Every once in a while for the last year or so AJ will have these coughing fits and then he starts coughing up blood. We go to see his pediatrician every time it happen. It’s always the same thing… Take a look, swab and tell me that it looks fine. The last time we went the pediatrician referred us to a Ear, Nose and Throat doctor.
I was worried that AJ might be afraid to see the specialist because of everything he has watched his sister go through. But he was more annoyed than anything else. He told me that he was really looking forward to taking a nap after school and really didn’t want to be bothered with this silly appointment. This kid KILLS me!
He is like a mini grumpy old man.
The Doctor was really nice. She took a look and said that his tonsils are very large but that they are the same size (I guess that is good) She said we can take them out if we want but at this point the risk outweighs the benefits'. She said if he continues to have a lot of problems with the coughing up blood then we will re-evaluate in a few months.
