AJ Visit’s the ENT

(this post is out of order… From Feb. 17)

Every once in a while for the last year or so AJ will have these coughing fits and then he starts coughing up blood.  We go to see his pediatrician every time it happen.  It’s always the same thing… Take a look, swab and tell me that it looks fine.  The last time we went the pediatrician referred us to a Ear, Nose and Throat doctor.
I was worried that AJ might be afraid to see the specialist because of everything he has watched his sister go through.  But he was more annoyed than anything else.  He told me that he was really looking forward to taking a nap after school and really didn’t want to be bothered with this silly appointment.  This kid KILLS me!

He is like a mini grumpy old man.

The Doctor was really nice.  She took a look and said that his tonsils are very large but that they are the same size (I guess that is good) She said we can take them out if we want but at this point the risk outweighs the benefits'.  She said if he continues to have a lot of problems with the coughing up blood then we will re-evaluate in a few months.

HAPPY MONDAY

I had lots of photos to post today but that's not going to happen because my camera (well, actually Miranda's camera that I borrowed because my battery was dead) was stolen out of my purse yesterday.  I am so bummed because there were some really cute and funny pics on the card.

We all went to the movies yesterday Dave, Coco, AJ and Grace went to see Percy Jackson and the Olympians while Miranda and I went to see Valentines Day.  (yes I now realize that Miranda might have been a little young for Valentines day)  Anyway when our movie ended we headed out to the lobby, it was only about a minute before I realized that I left my purse in the theatre so M and I ran back in but it was too late, it was already gone.  I asked the employees who were cleaning up but they haven't seen it.  We ran over to the lost and found and no luck there either we went back in the theatre to take one more look by our seats but still no luck.  As we were walking out of the theatre one of the employees found me and had my purse.  The bad news was that it was a lot lighter than I remembered.  Sure enough, the camera was gone.  Good news is that everything else was still there except for the cash which was less than $10.  More good news is that M's camera was very inexpensive.  Bad news the pic's on it were priceless.   Most of them were of my very first crab feed.  We went with 4 other couples and had a really good time.  Other people were taking photos so hopefully I will get copies from them.

Other photos that were on the camera were of the scrapbook pages I did so far this year.  I will retake and post when I charge My camera.

Well, I am off to search for a good price on a digital camera for M to replace the one I borrowed.  The last time I borrowed a camera from her it broke, I think G got her hands on it because it was fine when I put it in my purse then broken when I took it out.  UGHHHH.... If anyone sees a good deal on camera's this week let me know

xoxo

CONGENITAL HEART DEFECT (CHD)AWARNESS WEEK FEB. 7-14

Most of you know that my daughter Grace was born with a CHD called Ebstein's Anomaly. You can read more about Ebsteins here. Grace had a rough start but I am proud to say she is doing AMAZINGLY well now. She will still have to continue to fight this her whole life, but for now she is doing great and we are so blessed to have her.

This being CHD Awareness Week I thought I would post some photos of Gracie’s journey and some facts abou;t CHD.

I have tried again and again but for some reason I just can’t get these pics in order. Sorry. The first photo is when she was 2 weeks old, just after her second open heart surgery. (her chest is still open in the photo) The middle photo was taken a few hours after she was born. They were prepping her for the first heart surgery. The last photo was taken when she was one week old; she had just came out of her first open heart surgery and was on ECMO (a heart and lung bypass machine).

Here she is 6 months old. She is off the feeding tube but still on the oxygen.

One Year Old!

At one year she was progressing very well. She came off Oxygen just after her birthday. Developmentally she was a little behind. She was finally sitting up but still not crawling.

At 18 Months, Grace was beginning to catch up. She was crawling and even learning sign language. Still no talking or walking. She had also developed a very silly personality at this stage. Such a goofball!

2 years old! she is walking, talking and still has that goofy personality.

3 years old. She is doing amazingly well. Her heart looks great! Up until now she has been getting Cardiac Catheteriation 1 to 2 times per year. After the last one (just a few months before her birthday) the doc said her heart looks great and that we might not have to go back for another cath for a few years! She still has Pulmonary Hypertension issues which prevents us from going to high altitudes.
